Roundtable in Tashkent.
On the 22 June 2017 the second Roundtable in the framework of the EU funded project “Strengthening Transport and Logistics BIOs in Central Asia” was held. The meeting gathered together representatives of the transport and logistics BIOs of Uzbekistan to discuss current critical topics for transport and logistics environment and to make personal contact with policy makers, industry leader in Uzbekistan.
During the fruitful discussions on how IT, KPI and other transportations processes can be more effectively integrated into cargo supply chains and lifecycles. The discussion was focused on drivers of innovation, participant companies’ accomplishments, future opportunities, key barriers, and needs. Leaders in every segment of the transportation and logistics sectors have exchanged strategic recommendations for logistics and transportations risk management in supply chain.
The objectives of the Roundtable were to:
- Discuss and recommend innovative practices and approaches to improve supply chain management of transportations toward safer alternatives (and therefore safer forwarding and less fuel waste);
- Explore the ways companies currently manage cargo transportations within their supply chain, and the opportunities and barriers to the development and application of Green Cargo throughout supply chains;
- Discuss and understand the EU regulations for classification and labeling of cargo, and the impacts they are likely to have, particularly as incentives for innovation;
- Identify opportunities and needs created by new logistics policies (within the logistics strategy of Uzbekistan) and other core drivers.
